Cranial Orthosis

Cranial Orthotics

Cranial helmets are specialized orthotic devices used to treat infant head shape deformities such as plagiocephaly, brachycephaly, and scaphocephaly. They gently guide skull growth into a natural shape by applying light, targeted pressure to prominent areas while leaving space where growth is needed.

Who Can Benefit:
  • Infants with flat head syndrome (positional plagiocephaly)
  • Infants with asymmetrical skull shapes
  • Babies with brachycephaly (shortened back of the head) or scaphocephaly (long, narrow head)
Benefits:
  • Corrects skull shape effectively and safely
  • Protects the skull while improving appearance
  • Comfortable for extended wear
  • Non-invasive treatment with high success rates
  • Typical treatment duration: 3–4 months, depending on age and severity

Our Process
  • Early Head Screening: Initial evaluation to identify head shape concerns.
  • 3D Assessment & Scan: Precise measurement of the infant’s skull for custom fitting.
  • Start Helmet Therapy: Initiated if no improvement is seen by 5 months of age.
  • Custom Helmet Fabrication: Helmet ready within approximately 2 weeks.
  • Follow-Ups:
    • 1 week after fitting
    • 2 weeks after fitting
    • Then every 4 weeks to monitor progress and adjust fit
  • Final Discharge Scan: After approximately 4 months, to confirm treatment success.
