A prosthesis substitutes for a part of the body that may have been missing at birth, or that is lost in an accident or through amputation. Many amputees have lost a limb as part of treatment for cancer, diabetes or severe infection.A below knee (BK) or transtibial (TT) prosthesis is custom made for a person who has had a BK or TT amputation. The prosthesis consists of a custom made socket, liner, pylon, and foot. Sometimes the prosthesis may consist of a sleeve or other harness, depending on the suspension system used for that patient.Lower-limb prostheses can be used to give a person stability when they stand and walk and require a certain amount of shock absorption when walking or even running, jumping or weight lifting.

If you choose to proceed with an Below Knee Prosthesis, we will:

• take a cast.
• custom make at our workshop (this process takes approximately two weeks)
• have you return for the fitting and re-evaluation
• provide follow-up evaluations to ensure proper fit and function
• provide any necessary adjustments and follow-up visits as required
